JOIN THE BOLTON FIGURE SKATING CLUB

If you are wondering what the next step is after the Learn-to-Skate Program, rest assured you are not alone.
The progression from Learn-to-Skate to joining the Club is filled with questions for most people.

However, you will soon find out, that Bolton Figure Skating Club (BFSC) is nothing more than a dedicated group of skaters of all ages (and parents!) who welcome any skater. For more information on how to get started, see below.

Most skaters join the Club when they are ready to transition from group lessons to private lessons.

Choosing a coach, or pro, is the first step in that transition. In addition to lessons, a pro will offer guidance on skates, readiness for test sessions, and competitions. As skaters advance, the pro will help select music and choreograph a program. To coordinate private lessons, contact a pro to discuss their rates and availability.

All lesson fees are paid directly to the pro according to each pro’s individual payment schedule.

Choosing A Coach.

Club members have the opportunity to skate on any Freestyle time offered by the rink.  Payment is made by coupons which are purchased at the front desk of Bolton Ice Palace. You can view the rink’s scheduled ice time here.

As skaters progress, they may wish to participate in test sessions, clinics, and even competitions. Each test level has specific skills that must be mastered, as regulated by the USFSA. At a test session, the Club arranges for independent judges to come to Bolton and direct the skaters through their skills, score their skating, and determine if they have passed to the next level.

Competitions are held across the country and at all different skill levels.  Local and regional competitions generally offer separate events for each testing level. Competitions allow the skaters to formally show their program to a panel of judges and are fun outings for families.

Testing + Competitions

BFSC is one of few clubs nationally who has a Theater on Ice (TOI) team. Any member of BFSC may join after passing the first test in the Moves in the Field Track (Pre-Preliminary).

Your coach can advise as to what work is needed to be ready to participate in  (TOI).

Theatre On Ice

Every spring the Club hosts an annual ice show in which members of the Club are encouraged to participate. It is a wonderful time for all the skaters and parents.
